- Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and go to ‘Registration’ (no need to register again if already registered on the website).
- Read the instructions carefully before filling the registration form.
- Once registered, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard, and choose ‘Officers Selection’ – ‘Eligibility.’
- Click ‘Apply’ against Short Service Commission SSC(Tech)(Men and Women) Course, and the ‘Application Form’ will open.
- Follow the instructions, fill in personal information and communication details.
- Click ‘Save & Continue’ before moving to the next segment.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Age Limit:
- For SSC(Tech)- 63 Men and SSCW(Tech)- 34 Women: 20 to 27 years as on 01 April 2024.
- For widows of Defence Personnel: A maximum of 35 years as on 01 April 2024.

- Candidates with an Engineering Degree or those in the final year of Engineering Degree course are eligible.

Selection Procedure:
- Getting Shortlisted:
- Applications will be reviewed, and candidates will be shortlisted based on a minimum score (cut-off) for each engineering discipline.
- Choosing the Interview Date:
- Shortlisted candidates will receive an email with the assigned Selection Centre location, and they can choose the interview date online.
- The Interview Process:
- Shortlisted candidates undergo a two-stage interview process at the chosen Selection Centre, including psychological tests, group activities, and individual interviews.
- Medical Examination and Joining:
- If recommended and after passing the medical test, candidates will be selected and offered a training position at OTA, Chennai.
Training:
- Selected candidates will undergo training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai, for 49 weeks.
- Marriage during the training period is not allowed.
- Successful candidates receive a ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies’ by the University of Madras.
Merit List:
- A merit list is prepared based on performance in the SSB interview, with tiebreakers considered.
- Older candidates with tied scores rank higher.
- Extracurriculars or additional qualifications don’t influence ranking.
- Only those on the merit list within the vacancy limit and medically fit are selected for training at OTA, Chennai.
Commission Type:
- Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lieutenant.
- Confirmation of Short Service Commission (Technical) in the rank of Lieutenant is based on successful completion of Pre-Commission training.
